You need the Docs: Create new, edit settings and Collections permission in Help Scout to access the Docs API Key. Contact your Help Scout Account Owner or Administrator to grant this permission.
Help Scout integration
Connect your Help Scout account to Ferndesk so Fern can read your resolved tickets and identify documentation gaps.
Before you begin
You need an active Help Scout account with the Docs: Create new, edit settings and Collections permission to access your Docs API Key.
Get your Help Scout Docs API Key
In Help Scout, click the person icon in the top right, then click Your Profile.
Click Authentication in the left menu and select the API Keys tab.
Copy your Docs API Key. If you do not see one, ask your Account Owner or Administrator to grant the permission.
Connect Help Scout
Go to the Integrations page in your Ferndesk dashboard.
Find the Help Scout card and click Connect.
In the connection dialog, paste your Docs API Key and click Connect.
Once connected, the Help Scout card shows a Manage connections button.
What happens after connecting
Fern can read your resolved Help Scout tickets to identify patterns in customer questions. Support trends from Help Scout appear in Reporting under Intelligence. To automatically receive documentation gap recommendations, enable scheduled audits in Settings > Automations.
Troubleshooting
I do not see a Docs API Key in Help Scout
The authorization page shows an error
This can happen if:
Your session expired. Sign out of Ferndesk and sign back in.
The OAuth state became invalid. Close the authorization window and click Connect again in Ferndesk.
