Automatic Sitemap Generation for Your Help Center
For Ferndesk-hosted help centers, Ferndesk automatically generates a sitemap.xml file. This file helps search engines like Google discover and index your articles, making it easier for users to find your content through organic search.
What is a sitemap?
A sitemap lists the URLs that search engines may crawl. It gives them a roadmap of your content, which helps them crawl and understand your site more effectively.
Which pages are included
The sitemap lists help-center pages and articles that anyone can read without signing in:
Articles and collections under a collection that requires sign-in or specific user groups are left out, even when the article itself is public and listed.
A locked help center returns an empty sitemap.
The rules that decide this live in each collection's audience settings; see Collection access.
How it works
The sitemap is generated automatically, so you don't need to take any action to enable it. Ferndesk updates it whenever you publish new articles or change existing ones, and it is always available at your-help-center-url/sitemap.xml.
By generating and updating the sitemap for you, Ferndesk helps search engines index your help center, improving discoverability and organic traffic.
