Collections are folders that you can use to group related articles, making it easy for your customers to find what they're looking for.
You can create main collections for broad topics and then nest sub-collections inside for more specific subjects.
Before You Start
Configured Help Desk: You'll need to have a help desk set up in Ferndesk. If you don't have one, we'll guide you through the setup process.
Edit Permissions: Make sure you have "edit" permissions for your organization to create and manage collections.
Creating Your First Collection
Go to the Help Center from the main menu.
In the "Content" sidebar, click the + icon.
Enter a Collection name in the dialog box.
(Optional) Add a Description and choose an icon to help the collection stand out.
Click Create collection.
Success! Your new collection will now appear in your content sidebar.
Creating a Sub-Collection
You can create nested collections to further organize your articles.
Hover over the collection where you want to add a sub-collection.
Click the three-dot menu that appears.
Select Create sub-collection.
Give your sub-collection a name and, optionally, a description and icon.
Heads up: You can only have up to two levels of sub-collections.
Managing Your Collections
Now that you have collections, you can easily manage them:
Add Articles: Right-click on a collection and select "Create article" or simply drag and drop existing articles into your collections.
Edit Collections: Click the three-dot menu on any collection to change its name, description, or icon.
Pro-tip: Use a clear and consistent naming convention for your collections to make it even easier for users to navigate your help center.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
"Set up your help desk" prompt: This means you need to configure your help desk before you can create collections.
No option to create collections: If you can't find the create button, you might not have the right permissions. Contact your administrator to get access.
External Help Desk: If you are using an external help desk like Zendesk, you will need to manage your collections from there.
